Career Management

Your “Treasure Map” to Career Success. Promotion, Riches & Satisfaction

When I was young, I enjoyed reading books and watching movies about pirates. It seemed that one inevitable part of each of these stories revolved around a treasure map. It was normally written on crumpled parchment paper, tied with a ribbon, and had detailed directions for which island to go to, the landmarks on the island, how many steps to go east from the Palm tree, and directions to dig down 5 feet. When that happened, there was a large chest loaded with pirate treasure: gold coins, silver chalices, and a pile of sparkling diamonds. You were rich!

A good Career Management plan is like that treasure map. It’s a set of directions that leads to huge success. But there are several differences:

  • There is no “Treasure Map”. It doesn’t exist.
  • If you find one that you think meets your requirements, you’ll probably be disappointed,
  • The simple fact is that a career management plan is something you create for yourself. No one else is going to do it. Some corporations claim that they will do it, but that’s rarely the case Why? Because your goals and aspirations are different from those of the corporations.

So what are you supposed to do? That’s where I come in. If you’ve taken the time to review my incredibly long “About” page, you’ll see that these are the kinds of things I did with my people all the time. I’m here to help at any stage of your career. Some of the things I can help you sort out are the following:

  • Understanding in detail your strengths, areas for improvement, and significant accomplishments
  • Determining what you most enjoy doing
  • Helping you determine how to take the next steps
  • Helping you negotiate raises, promotions, or career changes
  • Fine-tuning your résumé, LinkedIn profile, and, most importantly, the way you communicate value.
  • The list of areas where I can help is virtually endless.

How is your career progressing? Is it living up to your expectations? Do you feel there might be more that you can get out of your work life? Every person who works for a living faces these kinds of questions from time to time. Helping you get the right answers is what I do.

It all starts with a conversation. That’s always free. It’s a good way for you to explore whether I seem like the person who can help you obtain the work-life that you desire. As I often say, let’s talk. Couldn’t hurt, might help.
